The Cradle of Japanese Hot Springs

For over 1,300 years, travelers have journeyed to Tamatsukuri Onsen (玉造温泉) to heal their bodies and spirits.

Mentioned in ancient Japanese chronicles dating back to 733 AD, Tamatsukuri Onsen (玉造温泉) is celebrated as the "Bath of the Gods." Known as one of Japan's premier "Bihada-no-yu" (skin-beautifying waters), the mineral-rich, naturally alkaline spring water leaves the skin soft, hydrated, and deeply rejuvenated.

Unlike crowded resort towns, Tamatsukuri remains a quiet, peaceful sanctuary, offering an untouched glimpse into the traditional Japanese Onsen culture.

300 Years of Heartfelt Hospitality

A family-run haven of serenity where tradition meets modern comfort.

At Shiraishiya, we have welcomed travelers since the Edo Period. Our philosophy is rooted in "Omotenashi"—the selfless dedication to guest comfort. Every detail of your stay, from the seasonal flowers in the alcove to the tailored temperature of your tea, is curated to make you feel at home.

Our traditional Japanese guest rooms feature fragrant tatami flooring, delicate shoji screens, and luxurious futon beds prepared by our staff, allowing you to experience sleep as it has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries.

★★★★★

"Absolute peace and pure hospitality"

"We came here to escape the busy streets of Tokyo, and it was the best decision. The open-air onsen at night surrounded by nature was magical, and sleeping on the tatami mats was surprisingly the most comfortable sleep we had in Japan. True Japanese spirit."

"Deeply cultural and warm"

"The Kaiseki dinner was like an art exhibition. Shimane Wagyu beef melted in my mouth, and the local fish was outstanding. Walking around the historic hot spring town in Yukata made us feel connected to old Japan. Highly recommended."
